Industrial action spreads: what members can do

The cost of living crisis has spurred several groups of workers into taking industrial action to win better pay awards, in particular in light of the rising rate of inflation, currently 12.3% CPI.

Members of our own union are currently in dispute over pay, after around 1,150 workers at publisher Reach rejected their original 3% pay offer.

The offer was made without consultation with the union, and way below the members’ demands. After taking strike action in August, members are in the process of being balloted on a new proposal from Reach management. 

This London Magazine Branch meeting will start with a discussion led by branch membership officer Mike Simons, summing up the state of nationwide industrial action and how members can respond. He will be followed by a member of the Reach negotiating committee, who will report on the dispute and advise on how we can deliver support and solidarity.

We will also conduct monthly branch business, including adoption of new members and workplace reports.
