Dear London Magazine Branch colleagues,
The London Freelance Branch (LFB) of the National Union of Journalists has called an emergency vigil at Downing Street on Wednesday, August 13th at 17:30, following Israel’s targeted assassination of Al Jazeera journalists.
The London Magazine Branch Committee is supporting the London Freelance Branch protest vigil tomorrow evening, and we encourage all members to join if you can.
The most recent deaths of journalists in Gaza are those of five Al Jazeera journalists killed in an Israeli airstrike. The attack reportedly struck a tent used by journalists outside the al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City. The journalists killed were Anas al-Sharif, a prominent Al Jazeera correspondent, Mohammed Qreiqeh, a fellow reporter, Ibrahim Zaher, a camera operator, Mohammed Noufal, a camera operator, and Moamen Aliwa, a camera operator.
The NUJ has condemned the “horrific attack” as a violation of international law.
Please join us – we will be holding signs of all the journalists killed in Gaza. Please do come early if you would like to hold a sign and say the name of one of our murdered colleagues.
Solidarity,
Niall Mulholland
